Progressing unsolved crime
Police forces are required to conduct regular reviews of all areas of policing, ongoing and undetected homicide investigations and other unsolved crimes such as stranger rapes. Working with a UK police force Servoca conducted independent reviews of two cases; the six year old suspicious death of a young man and a 28 day review of an investigation into a suspected serial sex offender. The force asked for a HOLMES expert to be part of the review team to examine MIRSAP compliance, look at the force’s investigative performance as an organisation and make recommendations about any investigative opportunities still within the inquiry. Servoca pulled together an expert team that provided the skills of an experienced HOLMES Office Manager, a former senior investigating officer and a former Asssistant Chief Constable and Chair of the ACPO Homicide Working Group. Reports were provided that recommended specific action on the case and action that should be taken by the force to help them develop their major crime investigations.
Servoca can review and deliver reports with recommendations in all areas of policing such as;
- Child abuse and domestic violence – structure and procedures
- Major crime management structure, policy and procedures
- RIPA control, surveillance and CHIS management processes
- Technical support units
- Financial asset recovery
